Corpers Stunned As NYSC Finally Speaks On Increasing Monthly Allowance – FULL DETAILS

There was jubilation nationwide when the news of President Muhammadu Buhari signing and approving the increment in the minimum wage hit the streets. Sadly not all will benefit from it.

Fresh graduates hoping and yearning to wear the famous khaki uniform as a certified NYSC members have received disappointing news from the Deputy Director at the NYSC headquarters Abuja, Eddy Megwa who told a journalist during an interview that the federal government is yet to inform the Scheme of any increases in the stipends of serving corps members.

Bottom line is that the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has denied increasing corps members monthly allowance from N19,800 to N31,800.

NYSC also debunked the rumour tagging it as fake news which unfortunately has gone viral on social media. The news states that serving corps members will be paid N31,800 as monthly stipends.

He stressed that though the NYSC does not pay corps members directly, the federal government will inform the Scheme of any increases before a stipend figure different from the current N19,800 is made available to the public.

“The NYSC does not pay corps members any sum of money directly as stipends but the federal government does. “Until the government is ready to implement the N30,000 minimum wage, we cannot say what corps members will earn for their service to the nation.

He added that corpers should ignore the news making the rounds and disregard the figures saying that when the Federal government is ready, the necessary announcement will be made through the official channels.

But wait oh, there is another angle to this story.

It means you have enough time to work on your saving skills in anticipation of a future increase, what do you say?
